Swim England Winter Nationals 2023

The big competition of the short course season had finally reached us and it was time for our 6 swimmers to compete against the best in the country at this years Swim England Winter Nationals.
Day 1
Ava and Daisy were first up in the Female 50m Butterfly.
Strong performances for both, hitting their second fastest times in this event. A special mention to Ava who was one of only 30 14 year olds to qualify for Winter Nationals. Martha, in her only event of the week, swam a solid 200m Breaststroke. To finish the day was Aden, who, for the first time, swam sub-60 seconds in the 100m Backstroke.

Day 2
Heats
Joining us from Sweden again was Oliver. A quick splash in the 50m Breaststroke saw him make the Junior Final. Daisy set a new personal best in her favourite event, the 100m Butterfly, and secured herself a place in the senior final – her first ever national final!
Finals
In the Junior Final, Oliver took the lead from the start gaining his first win of the week in the Open/Male Junior 50m Breaststroke with a new personal best time! A strong way to start his next 2 days of racing.
In the 100m Butterfly Senior Final, Dasiy battled all the way from an outside lane to 6th and another personal best time; what an achievement!
Day 3
It was down to the boys to keep the momentum going. Oliver in his favourite event of the 100m breaststroke, secured himself a a centre lane for the junior final. Aden, in the longer event of 200m backstroke, gained himself another PB making it 2 for 2.
Finals
In the first final of the night, Open/Male 100m Breaststroke Junior Final, Oliver swam a clear race, leading from the start. He held off the swimmer next to him to take another 1st place!
Day 4
Heats
Final day of the meet saw a very tired coach and two very excited boys ready to end the past 4 days with a bang! Oliver, with controlled heat swim gained his 3rd junior final, this time in the 200m breaststroke. Aden, keen to end his nationals with a clean sweep of PB’s stormed his way to get his wish with another personal best time in the 50m backstroke.
Finals
In the last session and final of the week, Oliver was raring to go in his 200m breaststroke final. In what was a close race all the way through, Oliver managed to secure a 3rd place finish with seasons best time.
