Bracknell and Wokingham Swimming Club (BWSC) in Berkshire is an aspirational club looking to move to the next level. The Head Coach and Management Committee are committed to developing BWSC with a well-established Academy that routinely produces athletes that are competing at County, Regional, National level and above.

In the past 12 months BWSC have produced County and Regional champions, multiple medalists, and had 11 swimmers compete, final and medal at Nationals this summer. The team competes in many local galas and enters teams for the TVJL and National Arena League events. The Club holds 3 Open Meets throughout the year which are well supported by other local clubs.

With a number of up and coming exciting projects, the club are seeking to find an Assistant Head Coach to work alongside our successful coaching team to take the club on to further success. We are looking for a passionate, driven, conscientious coach who shares the same enthusiasm and love for the sport we do. They must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, time management and be IT proficient.

The successful candidate will assist the Head Coach and must be a highly motivated individual with a track record of being able to produce swimming plans that nurture the talent of our young swimmers within the club. You will coach Age Group Performance around 17 hours+ per week and support all stages of their development to County, Regional and National levels and will be expected to keep accurate records and give regular feedback to the Head Coach on the swimmers’ performance as well as attending competitions throughout the year. These include; Counties, Regionals, Nationals, Open meets and targeted meets for your squad. You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of swimming strokes and skills and have a current ASA level 2 or 3 Coaching Certificate.

Academy Teacher

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Level 2 Swimming Teacher to join our academy swimming program. The successful candidates will provide and be responsible for planning and implementation a structured swimming program aligned to competitive swimming for one or more of our Academy groups that range from Stages 6 to 10.  You should be prepared to go the extra mile to help our swimmers reach their potential and achieve their goals. You will be accountable to and supported by the Academy Manager.

Responsibilities include:

To manage the delivery of a structured programme of work for swimmers aged 5 – 11 years old aligned to competitive swimming.

  1. Prepare lessons aligned to the cycle of work for the group provided by our Head of Academy.
  2. Dealing with parent enquiries in an efficient and courteous manner.
  3. To undertake and represent BWSC at internal and on occasion at external galas supporting Academy swimmers.
  4. Prepare swimmers to take part in the termly Mini Meet.
  5. To undertake teaching cover for other groups as required by the Club or other teachers.
  6. Provide ongoing feedback on all swimmers and detailed termly reports to track progress.
  7. Be able to commit to all group training sessions, teachers meetings and competitions as required.

  • Monday 7.45 – 8.45pm & Wednesday 7.30 – 8.30pm
  • Wednesday 7.30 – 8.30pm & Friday 7.30 – 8.30pm

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to work as part of a friendly team at BWSC, lifeguarding at pools through the Bracknell and Camberley area on an evening basis.

As a Lifeguard you will be responsible for the safety and enjoyment of our swimmers within the facilities. Successful candidates will have the RLSS NPLQ qualification and will receive further site specific training and a club induction.    If this sounds like the opportunity that you have been looking for then we would like to hear from you.

Press Officer

The external promotion of the club is an important tool to attracting new members to the club, this voluntary role is ideally suited to an individual who is well organised and has a gift for writing great copy.

The main duties will include:

  1. The Promotion and Publicising of the club, in a positive way
  2. Establish working relations with local media
  3. Produce informative and unbiased press releases with photographs with regards to all the club’s events as and when appropriate information is available
  4. Report on club events (internally and externally)

Team Manager

When attending external galas and open meets the coaches rely on a safe pair of hands to look after the swimmers whilst they are coaching, would you be interested in this Team Managers role ? BWSC will provide full training for this Team Managers position and will pay for the Team Manager 1 or Team Manager 2 course. The main duties for this voluntary position are:

  1. To liaise closely with the Club Coach regarding the external meet and arrange all external transport as needed, accompany the team to gala.
  2. Put team lists on pool notice boards.
  3. Answer any parent questions before gala.
  4. Whip the swimmers for their races whilst at external galas
  5. Deal with all swimmer questions whilst at gala
  6. Take swimmer emergency contact details to galas
  7. Ensure that a copy of team list is left with a committee member when coach travel is involved.
  8. To follow and promote the ASA Child Protection policy.
  9. Must have taken the ASA Team Manager 1 or Team Manager 2 Course and completed the SafeGuarding and Protecting Childrens course.
