After a brilliant British nationals, it was the turn of our English National swimmers to shine up in Sheffield.

Day 1

Heats

Leo Nichols was up first in his fun event of the week, the Men’s 50m Freestyle. A solid heat swim saw him gain a pb narrowly missing his age group fine but a good set up to how the rest of the week would go. Aden McCarthy, also swimming his fun event of the 400 Individual Medley, had a storming heat, knocking out an 8 second PB and gaining a place in his first national final! Martha, in her first race at English Nationals, had a great heat swim, getting her a middle lane for her age group final in the ladies 100m Breaststroke.

Finals

After a brilliant heat swim Aden was looking to try and improve his position in the 16 years final. With a strong front half and a tough fought battle, Aden gained another personal best time and a 4th place finish! Martha, in her final, fought hard down the final 25m to gain a bronze medal!
What a start for our BWSC swimmers.

Day 2

Heats

Ava Truswell was up first in the Ladies 100m Butterfly, raring to go after watching the finals from last night. With a storming first 50m, she held on tight to gain her 2nd fastest time ever and a spot in tonight’s final! Leo, not to be outdone, smashed his personal best in the Mens 200m Freestyle, also gaining a spot in the final later tonight. Bring on this evening!

Finals

Up first, in her debut national final, Ava was excited to race. A brave first 50m and a strong back half rewarded Ava with a new PB and 7th place! In his very first final, Leo was up in the Men’s 200 Freestyle, a strong effort placed him 10th just missing his PB from the morning. A great day for BWSC!

Day 3

Heats

Day three and our BWSC swimmers were looking to continue the success of the past two days. Leo, in his final event of the week, smashed his 100m Freestyle heat, gaining yet another personal best time and his second final. Aden, in his fun backstroke event, swam hard to gain to a new 50m Backstroke PB and another final for us all to enjoy later this evening!

Finals

Another evening of what looked to be some excellent racing for our swimmers. Up first in his second final of the week, Leo was rewarded with 10th and his second fastest time ever, a great week for him with 3 out of 3 PB’s! Aden, looking to continue his PB streak, had a great 50m Backstroke, gaining another PB and 7th place! Here’s to day 4.

Day 4

Heats

After an impressive first few days, the swimmers were keen to carry on the success. Aden, carrying on his impressive PB streak gained another personal best time and his 3rd final of the week in the 100m Backstroke. Our distance legend of Ted Whitwam, swam a controlled race, getting a new personal best time and 9th place in the Mens 1500m Freestyle, an excellent effort for his first nationals.

Finals

After a good sleep, Aden was up and ready to go. A super backend 50 gained him 6th place and yet another PB! Bring on tomorrow for the final day of racing!

Day 5

Heats

Final day of racing here in sunny Sheffield! Antoni Kepa in his first race, Mens 200m Backstroke, lead a competitive field, pushing hard on the final length to gain a new personal best time and 12th place in his age group. In his final race of the week, Aden fought hard to gain his 4th PB of the week and 11th place in his age group. In her second event of the week, Ava landed herself in a swim off for the Ladies 50m Butterfly final! A head to head battle for the 10th spot to which Ava walked away victorious with a new PB! Last finals sessions here we come!

Finals

In the final session of the week Ava was up in her 50m Butterfly final. A quick start and a tight field saw Ava place 7th!

What a week for our swimmers. We leave Sheffield with 9 finals, 100% PB rate and a whole lot of awesome racing! Now time to enjoy the Summer break!
