British Summer Championships 2023

Day 1
Heats
Up first, in his first ever Nationals, we had Joshua Scott, swimming his favourite race: 100m Breaststroke. With a storming 2nd 50m, Joshua swam his second fastest time of the season, qualifying him for his age group final later this evening! A great start to the week.
Finals
In his first national final, Josh was raring to go! With another amazing second 50m, Josh came home in a new personal best time and a 9th place finish!

Day 2
Heats
After a very hectic warm up, Jess Humm and Edith Hamilton were up first in the 100m Backstroke. Edith, in her first British summer nationals, had a great heat swim, gaining her 3rd fastest time of the season, giving her confidence for her 50 later on in the week. Jess, with a strong first half came home in a new personal best time, qualifying for the finals later on in the day.
Martha Cunnife, in her first Nationals appearance, gained a new PB in the 200m Breatstroke. She will be back in weeks time for her 100m.
Not to be outdone by the success of the girls, Josh, having had a nice long rest, came in and broke his personal best in the 50m Breaststroke, getting himself a centre lane for the final later.
Finals
It was a big night for a Bracknell swimmers, two finals, which, judging by the heats, were bound to be close! Up first, was Jess in the ladies 100m Backstroke. With a great backend, Jess placed 10th her with second fastest time, just shy of her PB set in the heats.
In the Men’s 50m Breaststroke, Josh was keen to walk away with a medal of some colour. With a great start, the top 3 were all in a line at 25m (leaving David having a mini heart attack), but he came through to get silver!
Day 3
Heats
In the ladies splash and dash (50m Freestyle), Jess stormed to 3rd place in her heat gaining her yet another final in the evening!
Finals
In her second final of the week, Jess came through with a faster time than her morning heat, gaining her 3rd fastest time of the season and in a close final placing 10th.
Day 4
Jess, with some tired legs, gave a solid effort in her 200m Freestyle. No finals this evening so a good nights rest for our swimmers!
Day 5
Heats
Last day of racing at this years nationals had Edith and Jess competing.
In her first race of the morning, Ladies 100m Freestyle, Jess led from start to finish, storming home to gain her first final place of the day.
After a couple of hours break, both girls were up for the 50m backstroke. Edith, with a fantastic first 25m, was just pipped at the wall to gain one of her top 3 fastest times ever – breaking into the top 20 in the country. Jess, in the subsequent heat, equaled her personal best time to secure her second final spot of the day.
Finals
In the final session of the week for BWSC, Jess, swimming her 3rd and 4th final of the week, was hoping to improve on her times from the heats. In her 100m Free final, Jess took the swim out strong, holding on to place 7th with a new seasons best time. With a short break, her 50m Back final was up, in this final Jess claimed 10th with her 3rd fastest time of the season.
