English Nationals: Day 4, 5 & Open Water
August 10, 2022
Day 4
The penultimate day of the 2022 Swim England National Summer Meet saw a busy first session with 5 of our swimmers raring to go.
The Mens 50m Breaststroke saw Ethan Donovan gain a new PB with a strong 2nd 25m and squeeze his way into the 16 year old final. Both Antoni and Aden stormed the Mens 100m Backstroke with both setting new Personal Bests. Antoni qualified for the final and Aden placed 11th.
For her second event of the week, Edith set a new Personal Best and placed 11th in the Ladies 100m Backstroke. Last up, Jess cruised her way to another PB and another final – this time pole position in the Ladies 16 years 100m Freestyle final!
Clearly a busy evening session was ahead!
Day 4 Finals
The evening started with Ethan’s first ever National final. Ethan handled the pressure well to place 10th with another Personal Best.
For his second final of the week, Antoni gave his 100m Backstroke final everything he had. In a close finish, he was touched out of 3rd place, but set a new PB and placed 4th.
In her final race of the week, Jess was looking to end the week as she started: top of the podium. After a quick start, she was able to hold on at the end to set yet another Personal Best time and be crowned Swim England National Champion in the Ladies 16 years 100m Freestyle!
Well done to all our swimmers, one more day to go!
Day 5
Rounding up the week was Bella McBride in her favourite event: Ladies 200m Backstroke. Bella kept her calm under the pressure of her first nationals and finished in a strong 2:29 earning her a spot in the final later that day.
Day 5 Finals
In her first final at her first nationals, Bella was going to make sure that BWSC went out on a high! After a slight slip at the start, Bella worked her way back up to claim 9th place.
Open Water
Our only open water swimmer Theo Robinson was excited to take on the lake in sunny Rotherham. His second ever open water race saw him swim 5km to plac 15th overall, a massive achievement!
A big well done to all of our swimmers at all the National championships; they have truly made us all proud.
