English Nationals: Day 1 & 3

Day 1

First up at this year’s English Nationals was Jessica Humm in the 200m Freestyle. A storming second 100m saw Jess win her heat with a new personal best to secure the top seed in the Ladies 16 years 200m freestyle!

Day 1 Finals

As the excitement loomed, Jess was raring to go in her first final of Nationals. With a controlled, dominant performance, Jess lead the race from start to finish. What a fanstatic start to the week to be crowned Ladies 16 years 200m Swim England National Champion!

Day 3

Day 3 saw a busy day of qualifiers. BWSC had three swimmers up ready competing for valuable places in the finals.

Up first was Jess, who after her day 1 successes, was clearly aiming for more medals. With a comfortable swim in the 400m Freestyle heats, Jess secured another final ranking 9th in the 16 years final.

In his first ever Nationals, gaining a new personal best and a spot in the 16 years final, Antoni had a super qualifying swim in the Men’s 50m Backstroke!

BWSC had two swimmers in the Ladies 50m Backstroke. Nationals newcomer, Edith Hamilton, was also competing for a coveted lane in the Ladies 50m Backstroke finals. With a terrific start, Edith held on to finish quicker than her entry time and secure her lane in 14 years final! After some rest and a leisurely swim down, Jess Humm secured herself another final for the Ladies 16 years.

Day 3 Finals

The first BWSC final of Day 3 was the Ladies 16 years 400m Freestyle. In an outisde lane, Jess Humm kept with the pack all the way through until the final 100m to finish 5 seconds quicker than her qualification time.

Antoni was up next in the Mens 16 years 50m Backstroke final. A great swim saw him placing 6th.

Landing a new personal best, Edith stormed her way through her first final in the Ladies 14 years 50m Backstroke placing 6th. In the final heat of the evening, Jess Humm had a storming 50m Backstroke. From an inseparable field for a majority of the race, Jess placed 5th.
