The British Summer Nationals started this week with our very own Jessica Humm and Aden McCarthy flying the BWSC flag in a very hot Ponds Forge, Sheffield!

Day 1

First up was Jess competing in the Girls 16 years 100m Backstroke. A storming back half of her swim resulted in a joint 10th place which means one thing… Swim Off!!!
With a quick 45 minute rest, Jess was back to fight for a final spot. After a very close final 10m, Jess just missed the win but swimming faster than her original heat swim, a fantastic 11th place for her first national swim.

Day 2

In the Splash and Dash (50m Freestyle), Jess swam a new personal best to qualify for the 16 years final! An amazing achievement and Jess’s first National final.

Day 2: Finals

With all sprint races, an expected close final was due to be the case for tonight’s 50m Freestyle final. After a terrific start and a field you could hardly separate, Jess was rewarded with her first sub 27 second swim posting a new Personal Best time of 26.99 to place 6th.
