South East Region Masters 7th October 2017, Guildford Spectrum.

With three weeks remaining until the National Masters Short Course Championships in Sheffield, this was the last competition for the Masters Swimmers and a great test of all the training under Coach Jim.

Starting with the 200m Freestyle, Terry Wright began his medal collection with a silver, but short of his Bracknell Masters Club record attempt. In the ladies 200m Free, Sasha Forster achieve a Bronze medal and both Rachel Langton and Amy Vaal achieved Silver medals.
A top six place for Greg Adams followed this in the Men’s 50m Butterfly and Simon Mellor was runner up in his age group in the same event. In the ladies 50m Fly, Sasha won and Kirsty Johnson was third in her age group.
The 200m Backstroke was next and Terry swam a best time for four years to break his first BWSC Club record of the night. Clair Baynton swam a spectacular 200m Backstroke to take the Gold.
Jenny Crittenden celebrating her birthday was victorious in her 200m Breaststroke. She was the the runner up in the 100m I/M.
With a bronze medal from the 50m Fly event, Sasha repeated this in the 100m Fly as well.
The sprint that is the 100m Free saw Greg miss out his entry time by just 0.02 but gained a top five position. Sasha, in her fourth event of the session, was fourth, Clair was third in her age group, Rachel was fourth in hers and Karen Leftley took Bronze.
The final event of the session was the Medley Relay and Kirsty, Karen, Jenny and Rachel were victorious.

The second session saw Terry take not only the Gold in the 200m I/M, but another BWSC Club record. Amy was second in the same event.
The next event the 50m Breaststroke saw Sasha back for her fifth event and a smooth swim to take Silver.
Rachel took Bronze in her 100m Backstroke. A time that would have beaten the Club Record, had she not already have broken it in the County Championships some four weeks earlier.
The real sprint event, the 50m Freestyle saw Simon and Greg’s finishing time separated by just 0.09 with Simon taking Silver and Greg Bronze in their age group. Terry also was third in his age group, but leaving another record attempt for another meet. Sasha, now swimming in her sixth event was fourth, but under her entry time.
In Terry’s last event, the 100m Breaststroke, he gave it everything, but lost out the Silver by 0.15.
The last event of the evening for the Bracknell swimmers was the 50m Backstroke with Simon and Greg in the water again. Simon finishing 3rd and Greg fifth.
A great days swimming. Dives, turns, finger tip finishes, all now ready for the Nationals, time to taper?
