British Champs 2023

Day 1
Heats
The best of Britain ascended to Ponds Forge for this year’s British Swimming Championships. BWSC had two swimmers, Jessica Humm and Oliver Munn, swimming through the week.
Jess, up first swam the Ladies 200m Freestyle. A terrific heat swim, rewarded her with the second fastest time she has ever swum and a seasons best time – a great start to her week!
Ollie, hoping to continue his success here in the UK, gained a new seasons best in the Mens 100m Breaststroke securing his place in the Junior Final.

Finals
At his first British Champs, Ollie was excited to race in his first Junior Final. A hotly contested race, with all swimmers pretty much in a line all way, Ollie placed 6th in his final, getting his 3rd fastest time ever.
Day 3
Heats
After a training day yesterday, Jess was up in the splash and dash of the Ladies 50m Freestyle. With the morning swims having already taken place, Jess knew it was going to be tight to make finals later. With a great start, Jess looked strong in the field, posting a seasons best time, securing her a place in the Junior final; her first final at British Champs!
Finals
In her first British Champs final, Jess was excited to compete in her of her favourite events. In a blanket finish, Jess placed 8th, a brilliant effort!
Jess’s time also placed her 5th in the 16 age group.

Day 4
Heats
In the last day of swimming for our BWSC swimmers, both Jess and Ollie were up. Up first was Jess in the Ladies 100m Freestyle, with a strong heat swim, she posted a seasons best qualifying her for her second junior final of the week!
Ollie, in the Mens 200m Breaststroke lead from the start, being gutsy lead to a new personal best time narrowly missing the Junior Final.
Finals
In her last race of the week, Jess was excited to be swimming her second Junior Final. With a strong first 50 and a tightly fought last length, Jess placed 7th in her final, rewarding her with another new seasons best, plus 3rd in the 16 age group!
Safe to say these British Champs have been a real success for our two.
